What Makes Our Products Different
At Signature Statuary, we take a unique, hands-on approach to carefully create and curate the pieces that we offer to our customers.
Often, the process starts with a simple block of wax.
High-Quality Statuary Requires High-Quality Artists
If you were able to go back in time and watch Rodin work, you might see him using a process called “lost-wax casting.” This process is very similar to how we create our pieces at Signature Statuary today.
Whether it’s a small statue to sit atop someone’s desk or a large fountain to place in a university courtyard, the first step in making any sculpture is to create a model out of wax. If this preliminary model has the slightest flaw, that defect will carry through the casting process to the final piece.
Signature Statuary stands apart from other sculpture companies because we work only with highly skilled artists who are trained in the classic European style of sculpture.
Why do we insist on such high standards? Because our artists must be able to recreate the iconic work of the world’s most famous sculptors, right down to the finest level of detail.
As true artists in their own right, our team members bring the same precision and artistry to the original works that we commission from them. We collaborate with them — often literally side-by-side — to ensure that each wax model is perfect before any molds are taken.
Fostering positive relationships with our sculptors is something we take very seriously. In some cases, we’ve employed several generations of gifted artists from within a single family. We have also assisted talented aspiring sculptors in completing their art education. Because we invest in our artists, they bring a high degree of passion to their work that we believe is evident in every Signature Statuary piece.
Precision and Care in Materials and Manufacturing
Our strong working relationships continue through the manufacturing process. Because of our decades-long history in decorative sculpture, we’ve developed exceptionally strong ties with our factory team.
Knowing that quality control is of paramount importance, our manufacturer is a key partner in ensuring that each Signature Statuary product is impeccably cast, using materials hand-selected especially for our products.
But that’s hardly the end of the process. The final finishes and patinas are some of the most important elements in creating high quality sculptures. In fact, we believe the finishes are so important that we’ll reject even the most stunning sculptures if the patinas are inferior. Working with the same manufacturer over many years has allowed us to really master the finish process, so we can achieve distinct shades of brown and green that are purely our own.
Signature Statuary pieces are not only stunning today, but you can be assured that they’ll age beautifully and take on additional character over time.
Large In-Stock Inventory for Faster Fulfillment
Our long-standing position in the statuary market means that our in-stock inventory is always excellent. With very few exceptions, our customers will receive their orders in a matter of weeks rather than months, unlike many other statuary companies.
