Signature Statuary may be a new name in the direct-to-consumer sculpture retail arena, but the people behind the brand have well-established histories in the décor industry. The company was founded by 2 of the leading entrepreneurs in the home furnishings and home decor' sector.


Dick Janssen and James Stenella have a combined experience of over 40+ years in home and institutional décor, allowing Signature Statuary to provide exceptional products and seamless customer experiences. From sourcing of items and manufacturing to marketing and home delivery, Dick and James personally oversee all aspects of the business.


Dick Janssen

Company co-founder Dick Janssen has been a respected name in wholesale sculpture for more than 20 years.


Born in the Netherlands, Janssen grew up around the family antique furniture business. While traveling through older European cities in his youth and as a young adult, Janssen developed an interest — as well as a keen eye — for fine antique sculpture.


Following this passion, Janssen shifted his focus from furniture to statuary. He is known for working closely with artisans and producers to create and source signature sculptures for clients such as hotels, universities, and national parks. Works of art sourced by Dick, can be found at some of the worlds most prestigious institutions, places of business and residences around the world.   


James Stenella

Co-founder James Stenella may have been born a continent away from Janssen, but his family background is strikingly similar.

Stenella’s family ran an antique business on the east coast of the United States. Growing up, he naturally absorbed the inner workings of the antique trade as he worked with his parents and other family members throughout the years. James' father, grandfather, and several other very close relatives made careers from the antiques, furniture and home decor' business' dating back to the families arrival to the US in the early 1900's. James continues his families passion today. 

Stenella realized that the growth of the Internet presented opportunities for businesses to evolve in new ways. As an early adopter of the online retail sales model, Stenella was able transform the family business into one of the largest discount sellers of new and pre-owned furniture in the eastern United States.
